Helping another is one thing, but asking for help has always been a struggle of mine. I always assumed that if I didn’t ask, it would reduce the possibility of the answer being 'no.' Getting used to this mindset was detrimental, and though the journey has been hard, I too have been attempting to depend on others when I need to. Thanks for sharing your story; it made me realize my own :)

Thank you for (reading and) writing, Timothy. I think asking for help can be particularly difficult for men, as we grow up learning to be strong and self reliant. It's true, if you don't ask, the risk of being turned down goes to zero, but the opportunity to make meaningful connections also goes to zero.
